      Early in their married life they moved to Pennsylvania. In company with them when they moved was William's sister, Rebecca Stanton, who married a Mr. Goodrich and two nieces and a nephew named Freeling.

William Stanton, author of the Stanton book, believed William was the grandson of Rev. Robert Stanton of Salem, Mass. His reasons are: 1) Robert had a son William, b. in 1727. 2_ In Dec. 1806 a William Stanton died in Litchfield, CT, aged 78 years. He had lived in Litchfield since before the Revolutionary War, and was a captain in Col. Elisha Sheldon/s REgiment of Dragoons. He believed this Capt. William Stanton was the William b. in 1727 and who was the father of William and Rebecca of Litchfield.²
