From the records of the Presbyterian church in Westerly, RI: "13 May 1761 Sarah and her sister-in-law Abigail (married to Samuel's brother Joseph) have a quarrel and John's family are out with Sarah. Abigail is dismissed from the Presbyterian church in Westerly. Once before her marriage, she (Abigail) said her sister Elizabeth Sheffield and Hannah and Susanna Wilcox spread a report that Abigail Park was on the floor on her back, pawing and screaming, but she afterwards confessed it to be a lye."²
