He was of Preston, CT. They were married at the home of MAry's brother Adam. James Treat died on 17 April 1852 at Preston, CT.
      Mr. Treat was a prominent and wealthy merchant and cotton manufacturer in Preston and Voluntown, Conn. He left a large legacy to the Baptist church in Preston, which was organized in 1812, the income of which is to be annually appplied to the pastor's salary.
