Charles B. Whitton

M, d. 13 May 1882
     He married Margaret (?). Charles died on 13 May 1882 at Waupun, Dodge. His obituary said "On he 13th instant, after a very short illness, Mr. Charles Whitton, aged 66 years, died at Waupun. Mr. Whitton was a native of Dundee, Scotland; emigrated to Canada in the year 1842; moved to Dodge county. In this state, in 1846; was a member of assembly in 1850, after which he moved to Aupun. He leaves two sons, David and Charles, residing in this country, and one daughter, Isabella, in Dundee Scotland. Isabella and her husband, Alexander McLeod, intended to sail from Scotland on the 20th of this month, with a view to coming here, and keeping home for the deceased. The remains were interred in the Brandon cemetery, on Monday. The funeral was attended by a large circle of friends who deeply sympathize with the bereaved family.".1 His body was interred at Eugene, Lane Co., Oregon, at Pioneer Cemetery.
      The copy of the Whitton family bible in Glorya Welch's supplement lists two unidentified people and their death dates: Margaret Lovina Thayer March 2, 1905 and Helen Beatrice Whitton June 12, 1913.

     An 1850 census of Augusta, Oneida, NY listed Isaac George Brader Sr. M.3 In the in 1860 Census Isaac George Brader Sr was listed as a head of household at Mt. Vernon, Dane Co., WI. According to the Alex Rea family Bible (grandson of Isaac), Isaac's family moved to Mt. Vernon, Wisconsin when Eliza was five years old (1855)..3 He resided at Mt. Vernon, Dane Co., WI, in 1877.4 He and his wife left England sometime between 1847 and 1850. In 1855 they moved from Oneida Co, NY to Dane Co., WI. In Mt. Vernon Isaac owned the mill, a store, some farms, and was postmaster. The LDS Ancestral File indicates his name was George Issic Brader and he was born in Scamblessley, England. No evidence cited.

The inventory listed: 1 black stallion, 1 bay mare, 1 spring wagon, 1 set buggy harness, 1 roan cow, 1 calf, 1 red cow with white face, 1 calf red, 1 sow, 38 pigs under 6 months old, all household good, provisions and family wearing appearal, ornaments, pictures and musical instruments and books, one gang plow, one canton riding cultivator, one hay rake, one mower, one three section harrow, one McCormick Binder, one corn plow, one feed grinder, one disk and one corn cutter being a one half interest in each owned by deceased, one grind stone, one hay rack, Legal exemption out of crop of 1902 not yet harvested and amount not yet ascertained.      Alex, Eliza Brader's child, resided with Eliza When Alex was 14 he had an appendicitis operation at his mothers., at Monona Co., Iowa, in 1898. Alex Rea was listed as UNDEFINED brother in the Census at Monona Co., Iowa.1 He resided at Soldier, Jordan Twnshp, Monona Co., Iowa, in January 1907. He resided at Soldier, Jordan Twnshp, Monona Co., Iowa, in January 1907. He resided at Jefferson, NE, in 1916. He resided at Thayer, NE, on 16 October 1935. He resided at St. Edwards, NE, in 1952. His daughter Eliza remembered her father telling about working in the fields of their farm. "Edgar, Alex and Robbie always went to school together, because their mother could not trust George and would always send him on ahead so he wouldn't molest the others." In 1895 when his mother and stepfather moved to Ute, IA (where the stepfather had a butcher shop), Alex lived with his brother Edgar on the home farm. Later he became a barber and operated barbershops in Oakdale, Battle Creek, and Meadow Grove, NE. In Turin, IA he had a barbershop and pool hall.

      He was named for Bob Lafollette, a state senator from Wisconsin and Governor of Wisconsin from 1901 to 1905. John Rea Jr. was firneds with the La Follette family both being from Primrose, Dane Co., Wisconsin. They had a farm there in 1847.2

She married Alex Rea at Turin, Monona Co., IA, on 23 November 1904.1,2 Harriett died on 12 December 1952 at Alliance, Box Butte Co., NE. Her body was interred at Oakdale, Antelope Co., Nebraska.
     Her Social Security Number was 506-22-7192. As of 23 November 1904,her married name was Rea. Harriett's occupation: Telephone operatorShe was responsible for the town telephone office. at Monroe, NE, on 1 March 1950. At an early age she was a member of the Methodist Church at Turin, IA and transferred her membership to United Brethern Church, Monroe, Nebraska. 8 Jan. 1952 she was awarded her social security pension of $20 a month beginning June 1951.

On the 1880 U.S. Census for Springdale he is listed as age 31 which would be a birth year of 1849..1,2 He was the son of Isaac George Brader Sr and Joanna Burke. He married Lucinda Housel at Springdale, Dane Co., WI, on 10 July 1870. At the time of their marriage Alfred was a merchant in Springdale, Dane Co., WI. Lucinda was living with her parents on their farm in Springdale [in the 1870 U.S. Census the family appears as Firmin Hansel]..2 He married Ellen Rhoda Chandler after 1882. Alfred died on 23 February 1900 Alfred's death date on his tombstone is 1900 but the Brader family Bible in the posession of Elise Strand LeGrand says he died 1908. at Mt. Vernon, Dane Co., WI.       As of 7 August 1880,her married name was Strand. Alice's family moved from NY to Dane Co., WI about 1855. In 1876 Alice went to Monona County, Iowa to visit her sisters Eliza and Elizabeth. She stayed and married four years later to Ole Strand, a widower. According to Alex Rea (her nephew) after their marriage they moved to Berthoud, Colorado.

     Ole was born at Norway on 8 August 1845. He was the son of Erick O. Strand and Lena Holvorson. He married Nettie Thoreson on 23 April 1870. He married Alice Brader at Onawa, Monona Co., Iowa, on 7 August 1880.1,2
     Ole immigrated, in 1856. Destination: at United States.2 Ole served in the military at WI.2 In 1867 he, brother Halvor Strand, James Severson, and E. Thoreson came to Monona County and settled on Section #29 of Spring Valley.
