[675] He was a sailor and according to family tradition, his wife
insisted she didn't want her children raised as seafarers and
demanded that the family leave for an agricultural area. So the
family moved to New York State.
He was a farmer and voted for Jackson and Van Buren, but was a
Republican when he died.

where the children went to school, but they did not give upthe
farm, and apparently were there at least during the sumers. All
three children attended school in Corning.
