[386] According to his obituary, Hans left Germany when he was 18,
stopped at Chicago for two years, and then to Mills County, to
the home of his sister (the only one in the U.S.). In the
Spring of 1888 he came to Turin and started farming the next
Spring. In 1897 he moved to Belvidere Township for 47 years and
moved to Turin in 1943. Due to failing health he went to Sioux
City, Iowa. When he died he left a sister in Germany, 61
grandchildren, and 28 great grandchildren. His sons acted as
pallbearers.
[387] His obituary indicates he was buried in Belvidere.
