[1122] A Baptist and a farmer. David was educated and made a special
study of higher mathematics, navigation, and surveying. FRom
1810 he was agent for the sale of lands in the vicinity of
Canaan for Phildephia grantors, who had acquired titles to the
land through loans of money to finance the Revolutionary War.
His mathematical training brought him the business of surveying
most of the farms in this vicinity. He laid out and named the
town of Waymart, and did much surveying for the D & H Company.
For many years he served as Justice of the Peace, and as
Associate Judge of the county. Although not a doctor he was in
great demand for his medical services.
[1125] He left his home in New London and spent the fall and winter
here, helping his uncle harvest his crops and build a saw mill.
He taught school in the family.
IN the spring he traveled to Phildelphia, then down the
Susquehanna to Bloomsburg, Catawissa, and on the Reading Road
to the Delaware River, thence across New Jersey to New York,
and then back to New London.
[1127] In 1794 he began making improvements on land two miles north of
Col. Asa Stanton's but did not finish. In 1810 he cleared the
forest and began building a house.

Clochester Baptist Church. She spent the last summer of her
life teaching school. In October she atttended a week in
Evangelistic services in New London and was greatly blessed in
faith, and she returned home happy in mind and determined to
labor for God and souls more zealously than ever before.

severe cold which rapidly developed into quick consumption. Her
death was triumphant.
