He was baptized at Lynn, Essex Co., Ma, in 1910. Religion:. He married Henrietta Mae Perry at North Truro, Barnstable Co., Ma, on 30 August 1938. Christoposos was divorced from Henrietta Mae Perry on 30 June 1947. He married Inita Marie Stoker at Houston, Harris Co., TX, on 30 June 1947. He resided at St. Petersburg, Florida, in 1994. His birth certificate is Christoposos Mavrogeorge. However, he was baptized in Lynn, Massachusetts as Efstratios Demetrios Mavrogeorge. On 30 September 1969 he legally changed his name to Charles Alexander Mavrogeorge. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on 18 Jun 1929 as Apprentice Seaman and trained in Newport, R.I. While in the Navy he attended Rangefinder School, Washington, D.C; Submarine School, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; Torpedo; and the Disbursing School, Seattle, WA, Navy Supply Corps. He completed high school while in Navy at Jacksonville FL. He retired from the U.S. Navy 2 Jul 1949 as Chief Warrant Officer. Charles then attended the University of Houston, Houston, TX from 3 Sep 1949 to 8 Sep 1951.He won a scholarship his freshman year for culinary arts and attended straight through, Summer included. While at school he worked part time for Calavo and beginning his Junior year was offered the post of promotion manager. He accepted, and left the University with 63 hours to go for a degree. He was majoring in Institution and Business Administration. He continued his education however, taking one year of journalism from the American Institute of Writers & Journalism of New York City, NY., and three months of culinary arts at Long Beach City College California. While in the military service he received a Letter of Commendation from the Secretary of the Navy for assisting in recovering a very valuable instrument for the Hydographic Society of the U.S in treacherous waters off the coast of Jamaica, West Indies by diving for the instrument. Also received letters from General Joe (Vinegar) Stillwell and Col. Wallace, Army & Marines for the feeding of their troops three meals a day rather than two as most Attack Transports did. These are in his Service Jacket. He was recommended for a spot promotion to Senior Lt. U.S.N. but the War's end stopped that. His duties while CWO were Commissary Officer, Division Officer, Educational Officer, Inspection Officer, Officers' Caterer, and Supply Inventory Officer. Sports: Swimmer, Boxer and Wrestler, did well in latter two. Civil positions held: Calavo out of 14 years and 7 months, 11 years were as Area Manager in Houston, TX and San Francisco. Resigned 31 December 1965. Oregon-Washington-California Pear Bureau, Merchandising Manager 1 October 1967 to 15 May 1975. Retired. Was Head Cashier at Treasure Island for the U. S. Navy Exchange for six months, resigned to join the Pear Bureau. Also worked as a food broker in San Francisco for one year. Organizations and Fraternities - Mason, Scottish Rite & Shriner. Past President of the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Association, Houston, TX, branch. Organizer and First President of the Fleet Reserve Association Houston, TX.
