[2534] Data abstracted from the Pension File: Jacob Allen first tried
to get an invalid pension 12th Sep 1881. He stated, " he
served as a Private in Co., C., 171st Pennsylvania Militia was
disabled by fever and ague and chronic diahrrea contracted
while at Galesville, North Carolina...... He enlisted 25th Oct
1862 at Camp Curtin, Pennsylvania for nine months; was
discharged the 8th Aug 1863.... His address is Marshfield,
Tioga Co., PA. - Information was witnessed by, Henry Sherwood
& S. M. Geer and singned by himself, in the presence of Henry
C. Cox. He received $12.00 per month..Dropped from rolls Jan
4th 1903 because of death...tombstone on his farm reads, "Jacob
H. Allen (on top of stone) born Mar 17, 1826; died Jan 23rd
1903 co., C 171st Regt PA ( on side of stone) The remains and
tombstone of Jacob H. Allen, moved from his Farm Cemtery
Watrous, Tioga Co., PA to the Knowlton Cemetery near by...

[3181] Was an apprentice of the carpenter and joiners trade in
Hamburg, New York. Went to Geauga Co., Ohio in 1836. Came
from there to Section 31, East Troy, Walworth Co., WI 28 Oct
1838. 120 acres were purchased at the land sale of Feb 1839
(later sold in 1870). Built 1st frame store there in 1841.
Afterward bought on Section 6 in Spring Prarie. Came about 1870
to Elkhorn as a building contractor and furniture dealer.
Member of county board in 1863, 1868, and 1877.
Land records show he obtained W1/2 of SW fractional 1/4 in
Section 31 Township 4N Range 18E in 1839.
