[10665] He was in the Army during WWII, but did not see combat. He was
a radarrepairman and stationed in California. He was a Tech
SGT. Uncle Boyd was born before His time. He put together a
crystal radio ata very eary age. He experimented with seed
corn, trying to grow strainsthat were resistent to certain
deseases, etc. The University ofTennessee took some of His
seeds and records after His death. He couldfigure out any
piece of equipment, saying 'if someone else was smartenough to
invent this in the first place, surely, I can figure out
howit's suppose to work.' He had heart by-pass surgury at age
81 and did not recover. He was aMethodist and a Mason. He
stated that as for politics, he said that healways '...voted
for the best man, but I've yet to see a democrat thatwas the
best man'. The Tennessean - Nov 17, 1992 Carl Boyd Banks - Age
81. Died November 15, 1992 at Centennial MedicalCenter in
Nashville. He was preceded in death by his wife, FerolWilliams
Banks. Mr. Banks parents were the late John Ivan and
BertaBeckwith Banks. Survived by brother, James E. Banks of
Dowelltown; twosisters, Lena Banks of Dowelltown and Elizabeth
Banks Simpson ofGallatin; nephews, William David Banks of
Knoxville, Edwin Roger Banks ofNew Hampshire, Thomas Edward
Simpson of Lenoir City, and Robert BanksSimpson of Hope,
Arkansas; niece, Barbara Banks Shields of Nashville; tengreat
nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 pm,
Tuesday,November 17, 1992 at Dowelltown Methodist Church in
Dowelltown. Burialwill be in the Snow Hill Methodist Church
Cemetery with Rev. EarnestCashdollar and Rev. Arnet Creasy
officiating. Will of Carl Boyd Banks I, C. B. Banks, of
Dowelltown, DeKalb Co, Tennessee, being of soundmind and
disposing memory, hereby make and publish this my last will
andtestament, hereby revoking all former wills made by me.
First. I hereby direct that my Executor, hereinafter named,
pay allof my just debts, including my funeral expenses out of
the first fundscoming into his hands as such Executor.
Second. I hereby devise and bequeath, in equal shares, to
mybrothers and sisters, all my remaining property, both real,
personal, andmixed, and my Executor hereinafter named is hereby
authorized andempowered to make a division of said property in
kind so that none ofsame will have to be sold so as to make the
division and the divisionthat my said Executor makes will be
final. In the event any of mybrothers or sisters precede me in
death then their share will pass totheir bodily heirs, if they
have bodily heirs, and in case they have nobodily heirs then
their share will pass to the remaining brothers andsisters.
Third. I hereby nominate and appoint my brother, J. E. Banks
theExecutor of this my last will and testament and the Court is
herebyrequested to waive his bond as such Executor.
Witness my hand at Liberty, Tennessee, this the 24th day

Banks, tobe his last will and testament in the presence of all
of us at one andthe same time, and we at his request and in his
presence and in thepresence of each other, have hereunto

performance of the aforesaid act of execution at the place
