[11002] He was a farmer and potter. Gurdon lived in Springfield,
Hampden Co. MAuntil about 1828, when he moved to Chardon,
Geauga Co. OH in the WesternReserve where immigrants from
Connecticut and Massachusetts weresettling, along with other
Rogers. Homer P. Rogers received this information from Samuel
G. Rogers. Gurdon Rogers, Jr. is buried at Rose Hill Cemetery,
Spartensburg,Crawford Co. PA. The Cemetery is on the northern
edge of town. He livedon Tract No. 293, Sparta Twp. - it is in
the very NE corner of Sparta Twpwhere it meets up with Warren
Co and Erie Co. He settled there in 1859. 21 Jun 1864 - Deed
in Crawford Co, PA. Deed Book K3, page 47 where T. B.Kennedy
and wife A. S. f Chambersburg, Franklin Co, PA sold 119 acres
toGurdon Rogers, of Crawford Co, PA. It was part of tract 293
in SpartaTwp. and was the same land contracted by article of
agreement dated June4, 1859 and August 18, 1859. Deed was
recorded February 16, 1866 and wasfollowed by two others
recorded the same day. The first one was whereJames Rodgers,
Jamestown, PA bought land in North Chenango Township,Crawford,
Co, PA in 1864, then the next one where he sold this land Feb3,
1866. From Marcia Evans in CT, [email protected], 10/27/99,
found Gurdon, inRogers book by James Swift Rogers as having
married an had children andwas residing in Rogers Mills, Ohio
and was engaged in the potterybusiness. He had a brother in the
same place, who owned wollen Mills(Olive E. Betts). she also
has that Gurdon, Jr. was born in Montvillewhich was still part
of New London, New London Co., CT 1830 Geauga Co, Ohio Census

Reserve which is in thecounty of Geauga from Eleazer and Jane
C. Paine. Page 414 Gurdon Rogers bought from Jonathan and Emma
Whittaker for 90 dollars anadjoining 45 acres of land on
October 5, 1822. Page 13 Gurdon Rogers bought from Thomas H.
Murphy for 125 dollars 33 1/3 acresin section number 3 of
Chardon Township, the ninth township in the eighthrange of
townships in the Connecticut Western Reserve on September
3,1839.

[11013] Gurdon enlisted 1 Jul 1780 as a private with the Connecticut
Troopsduring the Revolutionary War. He was granted a pension
based upon thisservice. He stood sentry at the house in which
Major Andre, the BritishSpy, was confined and saw him executed.
He was a blacksmith. 1798 - Ebenezer Rogers of Montville, sells
Gurdon Rogers of Montville,land near Gurdon's dwelling near Dr.
Alpheus Rogers, and near Gurdon'sshop. 1814 - Gurdon Rogers of
Montville, sells a man in Colchester, two parcelsof land
recieved from father Daniel; the other from Alpheus Rogers,
andbounded easterly by land belonging to Ebenezer Rogers, south
by land ofThomas Bradford and Asahel Otis, west by land of
Ephraim Harris andEbenezer Rogers. Deed drawn in Colchester.
