[973] Jonas Stanton was one of the contractors who built the Delaware
and Hudson canal. He was an extensive leader in lumber, and
engaged in manufacturing at Prompton before he moved to
Waymart, where he owned a farm and steam saw-mill. He was a
Presbyterian.
