fortunate in said investments, has retired (1891) from active
business. He was a man of wide reading and thoughtful habits.
He traveled much and observed closely.

[191] In 1911 he was in Oakdale, Nebraska engaged in carpentry. In
1913, after his marriage, the family lived on a farm near
Oakdale for a number of years. In 1930 he was employed by the
Nebraska State Highway Patrol for about ten years. 1945-48 he
was employed in Norfolk, 1948-58 in Oakdale. In September of
1957 he and his wife went to Florida for his health. They
returned to Nebraska in May 1958 and he was hospitalized in
Tilden May 7th.
He served as a County Supervisor for one term, a member of the
Odd Fellows Lodge, was active in the Boy Scouts, a member of
the Methodist Church and served it as Teasurer and member of
the Board of Trustees.
